Our client is a well-established, specialist engineering firm based in the west Tyrone area. The products range from specialist moulded compounds, CNC Machining, fabrication and machining.

Purchasing and Materials Coordinator

The position in brief (full specification available on request):

Reporting to Commercial & Logistics Manager, the Purchasing and Materials Coordinator will be responsible for the operations and continuous improvement of the following:

  • Purchasing Materials and Services as required to satisfy fast turnaround customer orders and Company operations
  • Managing Materials budgets and other budgets influenced by the Materials function
  • Comparison shopping and ongoing negotiation in an effort to reduce costs and maximise profitability
  • Agree stock and re-order levels with Senior management
  • Overseeing the Goods Inwards, cutting and booking out, security and care of stock materials
  • Ensure accuracy of all stock and purchasing records
  • Ensure materials released for jobs is booked out properly to the costing systems
  • To provide reports and figures required by management for month/quarter/year end and as required to help with accurate decision making
  • Develop, in cooperation with other members of the team, the WBS IT computer system currently in use at the Company
  • To oversee the ISO9001 Quality system pertaining to the Materials function

The ideal Candidate:

  • HND or BTech level in Business, Engineering or related subject, or compensating experience with circa 2 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills, both verbal and written, with people at all levels
  • Possess an appreciation of Engineering manufacturing, in particular machining, fabrication, and moulding processes
  • Analytical thinker and ability to share knowledge and ideas
  • Forward positive and optimistic thinker
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Able to work and deliver under pressure and to deadlines
  • Problem solving, planning and estimating skills
