Our client manufactures and supplies a range of bespoke hydraulic cylinders, rams and related components for a wide variety of industrial, agricultural and transport applications. Due to ongoing demand and success they now wish to appoint a Production Manager based in their Co. Tyrone manufacturing site.

Production Manager

The position in brief (full specification available on request):

Reporting to the Managing Director the successful candidate will Contribute to the vision/strategic planning of all manufacturing activities of the Company. You will also:

  • Plan production ensuring that manpower, machine capacity, materials and other resources are in place when needed to deliver good quality product with on time delivery
  • Measure performance relative to all agreed KPI’s and to instigate remedial action where necessary whilst keeping safety-first as the number 1 KPI.
  • Coordinate activities of all production personnel, and to cooperate with sister departments including Admin, Sales and Technical.
  • Drive a philosophy of Continuous Improvement across manufacturing
  • Provide positive and imaginative input to R&D, Product and Process Development, and other projects
  • Support the recruitment and training of new personnel
  • Develop systems and drive real improvement through the data and information
  • Ensure that Quality Assurance is not simply a paper exercise, but provide real savings, improved efficiency, better product and customer service
  • Implement agreed developments and improvements from management, outside government agencies, consultants, or other sources
  • Management of ISO 9001 Quality Systems, and dealing with ISO 9001 accreditation and assessing bodies

The ideal Candidate:

  • Time served Engineer from a Machining or Fitting operation, with at least 5 years leadership experience
  • A Mechanical Engineer qualified to at least HNC/BTech level, but with a practical approach and a full understanding of Engineering processes, and at least 5 years’ experience in Production management
  • A good appreciation of production costing systems and business finance
  • Team-player, who enjoys working in small company, with ability to work on own initiative when needed
  • Good IT skills to drive efficiencies and better planning processes
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 accredited Quality Systems
  • Good and demonstrable problem-solving skills.
  • Clean Driving license and willingness to travel as required
