The Director of Care is a new senior appointment, and the successful candidate will be responsible for all care services provided by the organisation.

In line with the emergent corporate plan, the intention is to not only sustain existing services but also to grow the portfolio of services.

As the Director of Care, you will be instrumental in leading service development and delivery to ensure the need for specialist palliative care services is delivered.

This will include managing services to ensure they are fit for purpose given the continued impact of the ongoing pandemic and the inevitable increased need for palliative care services.

The ideal candidate:

  • An excellent track record in a middle/ senior clinical management role within the healthcare sector (HSC/ NHS/ complex healthcare environment)
  • Expertise delivering clinical leadership and professional management of a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals
  • Third level qualification (or equivalent) or relevant professional qualification in healthcare
  • Knowledge of local and regional healthcare landscape and strategies
  • A passion for continuously improving patient care and developing services
  • Flexible and positive approach with an ability to encourage innovation and change
  • Stakeholder management skills including successful influencing and negotiating; working with a diverse range of stakeholders; delivering a focused and personalised service
  • A valid driving licence and access to transport to fulfil the responsibilities of the role
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly (evenings and weekends) as required to meet the demands of the role is essential
